I’m Leonie, the maker behind Wool and Wick.
Welcome to my little corner of rural Aotearoa, where life moves gently, the paddocks smell of fresh earth and wildflowers, and every candle is poured with intention.
Wool and Wick was born from a love of country living, boho creativity, and the nostalgic charm of classic Kiwiana — enamel mugs warming your hands, wool blankets on the couch, gumboots by the door, the hum of a cosy farmhouse kitchen.
Each candle is hand‑poured in small batches using natural ingredients and fragrances inspired by the places and moments that remind me of a simple childhood, and the countryside I grew up on. From earthy woods to soft florals and comforting blends, every scent captures a slice of rural Kiwi life — golden light over the paddocks, the crackle of a winter fire, the sweetness of wild honey, the calm of a quiet country morning.
My style blends rustic textures with country‑boutique soul: warm woods, dried florals, flax tones, and soft, earthy colours. It’s a celebration of simple living, creativity, and the beauty tucked into everyday moments.
Whether you’re lighting a candle to unwind, to warm your home, or to gift someone a little piece of Aotearoa, I’m grateful you’re here. From my little workshop to your home — thank you for supporting local, handcrafted, Kiwi‑made goodness.
Wool and Wick is more than a candle brand.
It’s the scent of stories — made to be shared, remembered, and lived.
About my Candles
Soy wax is at the heart of every Wool and Wick candle — and for good reason. When I first began creating candles, I wanted a wax that aligned with my values: clean burning, beautifully fragrant, and gentle on both people and the planet. Soy wax delivers all of that and more.
Soy wax is known for its low soot output, meaning it burns cleaner than many traditional waxes. This helps keep your home environment fresher and reduces the residue that can collect on walls or surfaces. It’s a wax you can feel good about burning every day.
One of the biggest advantages of soy wax is its slow, even burn. This means your candles last longer, giving you more hours of fragrance and glow. For customers, that’s incredible value — and for me, it’s a way to ensure every candle feels like a little luxury.
Soy wax holds fragrance beautifully. Whether the candle is lit or simply sitting on a shelf, it offers a rich, consistent scent throw that fills a room without being overpowering. This makes it perfect for both subtle home ambience and stronger, mood‑setting fragrances
Soy wax isn’t just an ingredient — it’s part of what makes Wool and Wick candles special. It allows me to create high‑quality, New Zealand‑made products that burn beautifully, smell incredible, and feel right at home in any curated retail space.
Sustainability Promise
I am committed to honoring the land that inspires me. From natural soy wax to eco‑friendly packaging, I choose materials that are gentle on the environment and reflect our rural Kiwi roots. Every candle is poured in small batches to reduce waste, and I continually look for ways to tread lighter, source responsibly, and create products that feel good — for you and for Aotearoa.
With Love
